CLMS was proud to host CT State Department of Education Chief Performance Officer, Ajit Gopalakrishnan, and members of his team on Thursday, January 30th. Our guests spent the entire school day examining math instruction at all grade levels. They were specifically looking at our implementation of the Illustrative Mathematics program which requires students to be engaged in high-level thinking, problem solving, and mathematical discourse in the classroom. This, paired with the independent practice within Khan Academy has led to students developing critical thinking skills and perseverance with challenging math, leading to deep conceptual understanding, and a significant rise in standardized test scores. We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of our entire math team and thank them for opening their classrooms and sharing their experiences with our guests.
