Goals of
REACH
Develop learners who read and write with clarity, fluency, and purpose
Provide opportunities to read, write, and discuss
Improve literacy skills to respond to text effectively
Introduce successful study/organizational skills
Through these goals, we hope to have students enjoy success in learning and promote a lifelong interest of reading and writing.
Selection considers the entrance criteria listed below
:

Recommendation by the Literacy Specialist, guidance, and current grade level teachers

Consistently below proficient on the most current scores in reading and /or writing grade level assessments
(include an “on-demand” writing sample ( i.e., summary, reader response
))

At least one grade level below at the independent level on QRI (oral reading comprehension)

Fluency is two levels or more below grade level as measured by Read Naturally/ AIMWEB
-
MAP scores for reading given during the current year are below 30%ile for the grade level

Process writing piece demonstrates below grade level writing expectations
Exit criteria
Report card grades in language arts class for skills (formative and summative assessments) are consistently C average or higher.

Classroom assessments in REACH and literacy workshop support classes are consistently proficient or higher.

Independent level in reading as measured by the most recent grade level Reading Comprehension assessment.

Grade level QRI is within independent range.
- Above 40%ile on current MAP

Recommended for exit by STAT team, academic team & interventionist
